PERRY STREET LOFT

Located on the first two floors of a typical brown-stone building in the historic Greenwich Village of New York City, this duplex apartment is designed to be a home, a gallery, and inspiring work environment for its occupant.

Architecturally the whole space is organized around light. One enters the apartment on the upper level. Upon arrival a light-wall greets the visitors and becomes the Center of the apartment.

The space on both floors is continuous from the street to the garden allowing natural light to penetrate and filter throughout the apartment. At the end a double story sanctuary filled with light, enclosed by a curtainwall, opening into the terrace becomes a dramatic space where one is both inside and outside at once.
